We were so excited to be a part of new partner, Fairfield Public School’s (CT), district-wide Institute Day. The day focused on using a diverse selection of mentor texts for “reading like a writer,” brought to life through an experiential and hands-on professional learning approach. Teachers and coaches created environmental supports that will help students become more independent by emulating the techniques of other writers and illustrators. 💡

To help strengthen community and collaboration, teachers participated in a gallery walk to snap photos of their colleagues’ craft charts. Did we mention how much we LOVED their drawings?! 🦒 🐘

When students believe “I am a reader” or “I am a writer,” they take ownership of their learning, make deeper connections, and share their voice.
