I love this combo of pieces because the first two demand a well proportioned accompaniment to the melodic line. To learn how to tame the piano into getting the sound you want is paramount, which is what makes these pieces appear simple yet so difficult to sound exactly right. The final piece (her favorite) brings a fun rhythmic flavor that has been fun to work on!

Hijo De La Luna by Mecano — Spring Piano Recital 2026 🌼

Two weeks ago, Amalya was convinced she wouldn’t be able to perform in the recital.🦢

The piece felt hard, she didn’t feel ready. But she committed, practiced at home with her dad, and something shifted. By recital day she was confident, poised, and gave a truly compelling performance of Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake Ballet. 🌼

A good reminder that the last push matters. Hard work pays off — and sometimes the most growth happens in those final weeks when you’re not sure you’re ready.

So proud of you, Amalya. 👏
