Message From the Head of School

Please allow us to welcome you to Carden Conservatory, where we help students between the ages of two and fifteen to “gain a sense of inner peace, a trust of others and a spirit of service” at the same time that they learn reading, writing, and mathematics at levels far above national norms. On Stanford standardized tests of basic educational skills, Carden Conserv

atory’s students consistently score 2 to 5 years above grade level. These results first become noticeable in the Kindergarten, and they grow larger during the years that follow. Just as importantly, our students gain added dimension in response to the emotional encouragement of teachers and staff. The net effect of Carden Conservatory’s educational philosophy and program – which includes music, art, physical education, and at least one foreign language daily – is that students become intellectually curious, reflective young people whose academic, social, and professional horizons are broader for having had the opportunity to study and learn as members of our community. At Carden Conservatory, we often speak of ourselves as a family, and the sense of community that develops among parents, faculty, and staff, as well as among students, bears that out. Remarkably, it does not take an extended period of years at Carden Conservatory for students to experience the benefits of our educational program and culture. Even students who begin their education at Carden Conservatory as late as seventh and eighth grade quickly recognize the unmistakable differences between this and other educational programs, and in short order they become full-fledged members of our community. An additional characteristic of Carden Conservatory is a commitment to making our unique educational experience available to as many students as possible. We make every effort to provide financial assistance to families who might otherwise not be able to afford the tuition and fees. It is our sincere belief that the benefits of an educational experience at Carden Conservatory are too valuable to restrict access for purely financial reasons. We hope that you will take the time to review the details of our educational program in the pages and links of this website. However, a fuller understanding of how we are distinct among schools is achievable only through a visit to the campus. Perhaps the greatest testament to our success in developing hearts and minds is the fact that faculty and staff at Carden Conservatory enroll their own children here virtually without exception. It has been our experience that parents and guardians who visit us and observe the educational process first hand typically do likewise. We are confident that once you have spent an hour or two on campus – observing students and teachers engaged in the educational process – you will want to discuss enrollment options. Tyler has been at Carden for 9 years, since he was in preschool. His favorite memories at Carden are from his time in junior high, which he loved! His top memories in junior high were the trips they took to Sacramento, Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Knott’s Berry Farm, and Disneyland. He will never forget these trips. He will be attending Mater Dei next school year and he is so excited to begin his high school career. Tyler wants to thank his mom and dad for loving him and supporting him all my life. He could not have come this far without them. Though he is sad to leave Carden, he knows he is well-prepared for whatever my future may bring.

Alan has been attending Carden since he was in the first grade. He would like to thank all his current and previous teachers who have helped him get to where he is today. He is so thankful to his parents for sending him to Carden. He will have so many memories from his time at Carden, but his favorite times were the field trips to Knott’s, Sacramento, the Grand Canyon, and traveling to the East Coast. He loved travelling across the United States and learning more about our country with his Carden friends. He will be attending Marina High School next year and he is really excited to begin this next chapter in his life. Thank you, Carden!

Aaron has been attending Carden since the 5th grade. Some of his favorite memories at Carden are Olympic Day, the Jog-a-Thon, P.E., drama, and Disneyland. He would like to thank his parents for sending him to Carden and for driving him to school every day. Thank you for going to all of his school events and for always being there for him. He has not yet decided where he will be attending high school, but he knows that wherever he goes, he says he will be prepared, because Carden has taught him so much. He is going to miss Carden and everyone he has met here.
