He has a wide range of teaching experience that include one on one tutoring, small group tutoring, summer seminars, and classroom teaching. After graduating from Pepperdine University in 2001, he chose to follow his dream to attain a job where he could be a positive influence in the lives of children and families. nce, Matt eagerly worked his way up through the company into the management position of Center Director. After three years of running a very successful center, impacting over one thousand students, Matt decided that he wanted to take a more hands on approach to education by tutoring students in a one on one setting. Matt’s passion for education, along with his desire to be a positive mentor to students of all ages has culminated into his own tutoring program, Anderson Academics. JANNA ANDERSON - Janna Anderson earned a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education and a California Clear Teaching Credential from Pepperdine’s Graduate School of Education and Psychology in 2003. From there, she continued on to teach third grade for six years. While teaching in the classroom, Janna distinguished herself as a leader and mentor to other teachers at Calvary Christian School in Pacific Palisades. Each day she taught, she aspired to positively impact the lives of her students and their families. Janna also served as a master teacher and professional mentor to college students seeking their teaching credential. In addition to classroom experience, Janna tutored many students across a variety of curricular areas, including math advancement, writing, and reading comprehension and fluency. Recently, Janna delved into private tutoring so that she can use her teaching gifts in a 1 on 1 setting, and also have a flexible schedule so that she can be with her two young children. MEGAN BROWNING- Megan Browning is thrilled to be part of Anderson Academics. For the past ten years she has been involved in educating students of all ages. Her first opportunity to tutor was in 2000 when she joined SCORE! Educational Center. It was there that she found her love for educating. Since her time at SCORE, she has earned her bachelor’s degree at Cal State Long Beach where she double majored in Business Finance and Communications. Her education has not stopped; currently she is aspiring to become a teacher and is working on her teaching credential. Megan takes the chance to work in a variety of environments. In addition to small group and individual tutoring, she teaches summer English classes to ESL students. In her free time she enjoys traveling and reading. It would be no surprise to see her at Barnes N Noble bookstore (or the local shoe store shopping for a new pair of heels). She hopes to spread the joy of reading and learning to all her students. CHRISTINA LE- Christina Le joined the Anderson Academic team in 2010. She is a National Merit Scholar, a member of the National Honor Society, and Vice President of the Key Club. Christina has been peer tutoring for six years. She is not only superiorly intelligent, but also a fantastic teacher. She has an outstanding ability to connect with students on their individual level, and simplify even the most difficult of concepts. As a result, her students are experiencing tremendous success in the classroom. She is extremely competent in all math and sciences. Her specialty subject matter is below: MATH: basic math, pre algebra, algebra, geometry, algebra 2, trigonometry, calculus, statistics. SCIENCE: physical science, earth science, life science, biology, chemistry, physics. KELLY COMBEST- Kelly is a product of the Anderson Academic program and is a sophomore at Concordia University in Irvine. She is currently working towards a California teaching credential with an emphasis in child development and literacy. Her passion for teaching has blossomed since playing school with her sister Katie at the age of five. Kelly's unique ability to connect with others, coherently teach concepts, and compassionately address concerns sets her apart from her peers. Among working with children on a daily basis during her part-time job at Build-a-Bear workshop she also has student teaching experience that includes observing classroom structure, working with a small group, and one-on-one help. Excited to make a difference serving her local community in a tutoring and mentoring capacity, Kelly joined the Anderson Academic team in 2010 in hopes to spark the love of learning in students of all ages. DYLAN HEYDEN- Dylan Heyden is a product of the Anderson Academic team and is currently a sophomore at the University of San Diego with intentions to study abroad in Chile next semester. Due to Dylan's excellence in writing and literature, a Professor asked him to be a tutor as a Freshman in the writing center at his university. Dylan's experience in the Writing Center on campus for the past year has been made up of ten hours per week of tutoring his peers. In the writing center, Dylan advised fellow students in brainstorming, revising and all stages of the writing process. His passion for helping and teaching others is obvious in his patience and ability to transfer knowledge. Dylan’s fluency in Spanish has given him the confidence to teach the subject to others. He has had experience tutoring in the areas of English, Spanish, Chemistry, and many other subjects. In the year 2010, Dylan joined the Anderson Academic team in hopes to relay his vast knowledge to others.
