In our Nest classroom at LSA, children are given open-ended materials that invite them to look closely, explore, and make their own discoveries.

Here, a simple mirrored shape becomes an opportunity to investigate reflection, light, shape, and perspective. Moments like these may look small, but they support curiosity, fine motor development, visual tracking, and early problem-solving in such a natural way.

In our Nest classroom at LSA Lake Norman, even the simplest moments become opportunities for exploration, connection, and learning. From reaching and grasping to noticing color, movement, and cause and effect, our youngest learners are constantly making sense of the world around them.

We love giving our infants the time, space, and materials to explore at their own pace, with teachers nearby to encourage their curiosity every step of the way. 🤍

🌿 Teacher of the Month: Ms. Sam

We are so excited to celebrate Ms. Sam as our Teacher of the Month at LSA Lake Norman!

With over 15 years of experience in early childhood education, Sam brings an incredible depth of knowledge, patience, and passion to her work each and every day. Her experience is evident in the thoughtful way she supports her children, collaborates with her teaching partner, and creates a classroom environment where children feel safe, valued, and inspired to learn.

The Meadow classroom is always beautifully prepared and thoughtfully cared for, reflecting the love and intention Sam pours into her environment. From the way materials are presented to the overall feeling of the classroom, she creates a space that invites children to explore, wonder, create, and engage.

Sam is also someone who consistently encourages and uplifts her fellow educators. She is always willing to share a kind word, offer encouragement, and celebrate the successes of those around her. Her positive presence is a wonderful reminder of the impact we can have on one another as a team.

Most importantly, Sam is truly aligned with the Reggio Emilia approach to learning. She sees children as capable, curious learners and embraces the importance of slowing down, observing, listening, and following their interests. She understands that the environment is a teacher in itself and thoughtfully creates opportunities for children to investigate and discover.

Sam, thank you for the experience, kindness, encouragement, and intention you bring to LSA each day. We are so grateful to have you as part of our Lake Norman team and are incredibly proud to celebrate you as our September Teacher of the Month! 🌱💚

Clay doesn’t come with instructions 🤎

It can be rolled, pressed, pinched, flattened, transformed and completely reimagined.

When children are given open-ended materials like clay, there’s no “right” finished product to work toward. Instead, they’re invited to slow down, explore with their hands, test their ideas and discover what the material can become.

Add in a little sunshine, a few treasures from nature and plenty of time to create… and suddenly the outdoor classroom becomes a studio 🍂☀️

We love creating spaces where the process matters just as much as the product, and where children have the freedom to follow their own ideas.

Did you know our LSA Huntersville campus is nestled on 7 acres of land? 🌳✨

Here, the outdoors isn’t just somewhere we go for recess. It’s an extension of our classroom.

Our children have the space to climb, create, investigate, take appropriate risks, problem-solve, and simply wonder. From painting trees 🎨 to navigating rocky trails, every trip into the woods brings a new opportunity for learning.

In our Reggio-inspired approach, we believe the environment is the third teacher, and there is certainly no shortage of inspiration when your classroom looks like this 🤎

Art in infancy is all about the process 🎨🤍

With bingo dabbers, large sheets of paper, and plenty of room to explore, our little artists experimented with color, movement, cause and effect, and making their own unique marks.

With a teacher creating alongside them, the experience also became one of connection, modeling, and shared discovery. In a Reggio-inspired environment, even the simplest materials can become an invitation to wonder. ✨

✨ Light, shadow, color, and curiosity ✨

Our classroom transformed into a space for wonder as the children explored colorful lights, moving shadows, and the way light can change the world around them. 🔦🌈

Through play, they experimented with cause and effect, movement, color, and perspective, allowing their own questions and discoveries to guide the experience.

We even welcomed some of our Novare friends into the exploration, creating a beautiful moment of connection, collaboration, and shared wonder. 🤍

In Reggio-inspired learning, the environment becomes a teacher too… and sometimes all it takes is turning off the lights to see learning in a whole new way. ✨

Morning meeting in Meadow ☀️🔦

We began by counting together, then followed the children’s curiosity into an exploration of light, shadows, and color. Using flashlights, tubes, and colorful cellophane, the children observed how light can change depending on the materials we place in its path.

Our exploration even sparked a conversation about red means stop and green means go ❤️💚 — a beautiful example of how one idea can naturally lead to another.

In a Reggio-inspired classroom, morning meeting is more than gathering together. It’s a space for questions, theories, connection, and discovery 🌿✨

Forest school gives children the freedom to create, explore, and learn with nature as their classroom. 🌿🎨

Art in the woods invites children to notice the little things: the colors, textures, shapes, and materials all around them. There’s no single “right” way to create, just space for curiosity, imagination, and their own ideas to unfold.

Because sometimes the best classroom has no walls 🌲✨
