💜 Hands-On Learning at Halton! 💜

Our students have been busy learning how to use our laser engraver! They’re learning the whole process—from choosing an image and converting it to black and white, to measuring their item and sizing the design correctly in the software.

It’s a fun way to combine math, technology, creativity, and real-world skills into one project!

We love watching our students turn their ideas into something they can be proud of! 🦅

History tastes a little different when you make it yourself!

Students in Ms. Liz’s Social Studies class enjoyed some hands-on learning as part of our Civil War unit by making hardtack, a simple biscuit made from flour, water, and salt that was a common part of a Civil War soldier’s rations. Because it was inexpensive and could last for long periods without spoiling, hardtack was practical for soldiers in the field…even if it wasn’t exactly known for being delicious!

It was a fun way to bring history to life and give students a small taste of what daily life was like for soldiers during the Civil War!

Our students had a BLAST making their very own sensory bottles today! There was shaking, swirling, glitter, colors, and LOTS of creativity!

The best part? No two bottles were the same! Each student got to put their own special touch on their creation, and we loved watching them experiment and see how everything moved inside.

Who knew a bottle could be THIS much fun?!

Today, our creative students got the chance to see their ideas go from paper to digital! Students started by drawing their own flyer ideas by hand to help promote some of our upcoming school events.

Next, they uploaded their drawings into ChatGPT and explored how AI could transform their original artwork into an eye-catching digital flyer. They then added their own ideas and details before transferring their designs into Canva, where they could make further changes, correct information, and truly make each flyer their own.

This was such a fun way for our students to combine creativity, technology, problem-solving, and digital design skills—while learning that AI can be a tool to build upon their own ideas, not replace them.

We are SO proud of the wonderful job they did! Their creativity started with a pencil and a piece of paper, and they turned it into something ready to share with the world! 👏💜

SLIME FUN FRIDAY!

Yesterday was all about getting messy, creative, and having FUN! Our students had a blast making their very own slime and exploring all the different textures, colors, and consistencies.

There were plenty of smiles, laughs, and, of course… a little bit of slime EVERYWHERE!

These hands-on activities are such a fun way for our students to learn, explore their senses, get creative, and enjoy time together.

A HUGE shoutout to everyone who helped make our Slime Fun Friday such a success! We can’t wait to see what next Friday brings!

Yesterday, The Halton School students had the most incredible adventure at the North Carolina Zoo, and our hearts are still full from all the joy and excitement we witnessed!

From wide eyes at the elephant exhibit to giggles at the giraffes, our students were absolutely BEAMING all day long. 🐘🦒 It was so wonderful to watch their curiosity come alive as they explored one of the largest natural habitat zoos in the world right here in our home state!

Trips like these remind us why hands-on, real-world learning is so powerful. Our students didn't just see animals — they asked incredible questions, made connections to what they've been learning in the classroom, and created memories that will last a lifetime. 📚

A huge THANK YOU to our amazing teachers and chaperones who made the day run smoothly, and to all the families who supported this trip. We couldn't do it without you! 💛
