⚽️ As the world celebrates soccer on its biggest stage, Crusader Nation is still celebrating a championship of our own. ⚽️🩶💙

Two weeks ago today, our Women’s Soccer team captured the 2A NCHSAA State Championship with a dominant 3-0 victory over Franklin Academy, securing the program’s fourth state title in the last five seasons.

Addi Peirce delivered a championship performance, scoring all three goals to earn MVP honors, while Libby Ryan was recognized with the NC Farm Bureau Sportsmanship Award.

More than a championship team, these young women have become a model of excellence, perseverance, teamwork, faith, and fun!

Recently, Pope Leo XIV said, “Soccer reminds us of something we must not forget: life is not a race to show off on our own, but a path we learn to walk together. Anyone who does not know how to pass the ball, even if they have talent, has not yet understood the game. Anyone who does not know how to live with and for others has not yet understood life.”

This team embodied that spirit all season long - playing for one another, competing with character, and representing Christ the King with excellence.

Congratulations to our players, coaches, and families on another unforgettable chapter in Crusader history.

Congratulations to Ingrid Siega, this year’s recipient of the St. Catherine’s Bologna Award for the Arts!

Ginny didn’t just perform on our stage for the last four years - she helped build a theater program into something extraordinary. From mending costumes to teaching harmonies to designing props, she gave everything she had, always with generosity, humility, and love. As her presenter said, “She said yes to anything an everything.”

Congratulations Ginny!

Congratulations to Dr. Delvaux, one of this year’s recipients of the Crusader Jack Peele Awards for Excellence in Teaching.

Dr. Delvaux doesn’t just teach history - he brings it to life, showing students how God has worked in our lives from the very beginning. As one student shared, “He consistently serves as a reminder that there is real meaning in all the work that I do beyond just the debates and the grades.”

Congratulations, Dr. D!

Congratulations to Juan Ascencio-Flores, this year’s recipient of the St. Augustine Award for Outstanding Improvement!

Juan’s growth over his time at CTK has been nothing short of remarkable. As his teacher shared, “He has grown leaps and bounds in his time here. There were moments when things didn’t come easily, but instead of giving up, he locked in.” That determination, heart, and faith are something to be truly proud of.

Congratulations Juan!

Congratulations to Miss Gabrielle Grayson, one of this year’s recipients of the Crusader Jack Peele Awards for Excellence in Teaching!

Miss Grayson brings together everything that truly makes a great teacher - a deep love for her subject, the ability to make it come alive for her students, and a genuine care for each person in her classroom. As her student put it, “Some teachers have a true love and passion for their subject. Some are wonderful at explaining content. And some are truly kind people who care about their students. The teacher I get to present to today truly is this combination of excellence.”

From sidewalk biology to DNA transcription, Miss Grayson has inspired her students to pursue science and so much more. CTK is so blessed to have her. Congratulations, Miss Grayson!

Like St. Therese herself, Mayla lives out her faith in the little ways - with authenticity, joy, and deep care for those around her. As her teachers describe her: “Unfailing optimism, never gives up, always there for others.” Small acts done with great love - that is Mayla.

Congratulations!

Congratulations to Mrs. Griffith, one of this year’s recipients of the Crusader Jack Peele Awards for Excellence in Teaching.

When we think of a great teacher, we often think of the big things - inspiring lessons, academic achievement, years of dedication. Mrs. Griffith does all of that. But what truly sets her apart are the small moments that so often go unnoticed.

Showing up to cheer students on at football games. Checking in to ask how someone’s week is going. Opening her classroom before the school day even begins. These things may seem small, but as her presenter shared, they mean everything - because they tell every student that they matter.

In the words of St. Teresa, Mrs. Griffith does “small things with great love” and it is those quiet acts of kindness, encouragement, and genuine care that leave the greatest and most lasting impact.

CTK is so grateful for you, Mrs. Griffith!

Congratulations to Katie Condon, this year’s recipient of the St. John Paul II Award for Critical Thinking!

Katie approaches the world with an insatiable curiosity - from animation and art to science, politics, and everything in between. As her teachers describe her: “Mature beyond her years, a deep thinker, intellectually curious - good grades are important to her, but not as important as learning for the joy of learning.” That is exactly the spirit the award was made for.

Congratulations Katie!

Congratulations to Ms. Seay, one of this year’s four Crusader Jack Peele Award recipients for excellence in teaching!

Ms. Seay is the kind of teacher who leaves a lasting mark. As student presenter Sarah Kamel shared, “As a teacher, her efforts go beyond simply to educate and serve to inspire. She is beautiful in all the ways that matter, continuously showcasing an empathetic heart, always leading with compassion rather than judgment.”

From her English classroom and beyond, Ms. Seay inspires students to learn, grow, and become better versions of themselves. CTK is so grateful to have her!

Congratulations to Emily D’Abreo, this year’s recipient of the St. Theresa of Calcutta Award for Outstanding Service to Others!

During her time at CTK, Emily has completed over 800 hours of community service - quietly, humbly, and without ever seeking recognition. From food banks to medical centers to offering free piano lessons to students who couldn’t afford them, she embodies the words of Mother Theresa: “The most terrible poverty is loneliness, the feeling of being unloved.” Emily sees that need in others and answers it every single time.

Congratulations Emily!
