🎨✏️ Fine Motor Fun in Action! ✏️🎨

Our little learners are strengthening their fine motor skills through creative sidewalk chalk activities! By grasping, holding, and drawing with chalk, children are developing the small muscles in their hands and fingers that are essential for writing, self-help skills, and everyday tasks.

This hands-on activity also encourages hand-eye coordination, creativity, and concentration while allowing children to express themselves through outdoor art. We love watching our students learn and grow through play!

📚✨ Sight Words Everywhere! ✨📚

Learning doesn’t just happen during lessons, it happens in everyday moments! Today, our little learner practiced recognizing sight words while enjoying a favorite book. As they turned each page, they searched for familiar words and built confidence in their early reading skills.

Finding sight words in books, signs, labels, and daily activities helps children make meaningful connections and develop a love for reading. 💙

At The Goddard School, we encourage children to discover literacy all around them, turning simple moments into exciting learning opportunities!

Our little learners explored Goldilocks and the Three Bears by retelling the story using picture sequencing! Children worked to place the story events in the correct order, strengthening comprehension, memory, and early literacy skills while building confidence as storytellers.

Kindergarten readiness can show up in everyday moments, not just big milestones. A few signals to notice:

1. They’re building confidence to try things independently. Examples: walking into a room first, asking for help, or giving something new a try.

2. They’re starting to recognize the letters in their name, even if they’re not reading just yet.

3. They’re showing care and responsibility at home. This could include things like helping pack a bag, feeding a pet, putting away toys, or getting through part of their routine with a little more ease.

Every child grows at their own pace - and readiness looks different for every family. Their preschool teachers can be a great partner in noticing strengths, celebrating progress, and helping you think through what comes next.
