Three small checks before Day One at adult day care, and none of them takes more than five minutes.
Starting adult day care feels like a big step. But getting ready for Day One doesn't have to be. Three small checks, each under five minutes, can make the whole transition smoother for your loved one and for you.
First: pull out the current medication list and make sure every drug name and dose is written out in full, clearly and completely. It's the single most useful thing you can hand the nursing team on arrival.
Second: jot down two or three things that genuinely comfort your loved one when they feel anxious or out of place. A favorite song, a preferred seat, the name they like to be called. Those small details make a new place feel familiar from the very first morning.
Third: check that your emergency contact number is one you will actually answer during center hours. A line that goes to voicemail causes delays when the care team needs to reach you quickly.
You already know your loved one better than anyone. These three things let that knowledge travel with them into compassionate, skilled hands at Gracious Living.
