Children at Capital Area Head Start learned about the life cycle of a caterpillar. Children were excited to see caterpillars go into a chrysalis, and eventually become a butterfly! ๐โก๏ธ๐ฆ
Children engage in observation, documentation of what they see, and hands-on activities to learn more about the process.
A great experiment for Spring!๐

๐ฑ๐ฅ From Garden to Table! ๐ฅ๐ฑ
What a rewarding experience for our young gardeners! With the guidance of a Master Gardener, the children planted lettuce and radishes, cared for them as they grew, and are now harvesting the fresh produce themselves.
Today, they picked the vegetables they nurtured from tiny seeds and turned them into a delicious salad for lunch! ๐ฟโค๏ธ
Through hands-on gardening, children learn where food comes from, practice responsibility and patience, and discover the joy of growing healthy foods. Thereโs nothing quite like enjoying a meal made with ingredients you grew yourself!
Great job, gardeners! ๐ฑ๐๐ฅฌ

The children and staff of Banks Street Capital Area Head Start Center had a visit from Chuck Sweeder, President & CEO of Keystone Human Services.
Each class chose a favorite book for him to read. One of the classrooms, currently focusing on the theme of encouragement, took an extra step to make the visit even more meaningful. The children created thoughtful and uplifting cards for him, offering words of encouragement to support him as he read aloud.๐
The motto of Capital Area Head Start in action: Take care of yourself. Take care of your friends. Take care of your home and school!
