After you watch the video, answer the question, and vote on your favorite response. Why did they leave their deceased loved one under this peculiar ancient redwood? While leading guided walks through Redwood National and State Parks, I occasionally discover piles of cremated remains beneath the ancient coast redwoods. But this particular resting place is especially mysterious.
Someone placed their loved one directly beneath a famous old-growth redwood with a very unusual growth that looks remarkably like a “trenis.”

Whoa! This moth has the coolest predator defense tactic. And we got to see it because we planted the plants that it lays its eggs on. Native plants attract native insects which attract native birds. If you plant native plants in your yard, on your porch, at church, at your workplace, and yo Momma’s house then you are part of the solution. Let Griff show you what he discovered in a backyard that’s landscaped with over 50% native plants.

It's easy to feel overwhelmed by environmental challenges.
But every day, restoration is creating real progress.
Through Redwoods Rising, we're restoring forests that were once clear-cut and overplanted—bringing buried streams back to the surface, creating healthier habitat for wildlife, and helping these forests recover for generations to come.
Hope is something we build together.

Here's a clip from an online Animal Planet show I hosted called Wild Jobs. I would LOVE to host this again, but this time, it should be on TV. This was so fun working a day at Animal Tracks, Inc. Check it out!

Yes, English Ivy was introduced from Europe, escaped our yards, and is invading our redwood forests. If we do not pull them out, they will eventually cover all the saplings, topple the elder trees, and we will have nothing but a sea of English Ivy.
