08/06/2019
I am postponing this years show entirely and rolling it into 2020 with a new format to address the alarming trend happening industry wide.
We started out 4 years ago with just 10 booths. Then expanded 3 times before the doors even opened. Go big or go home has been my motto, as long as I can remember.
The personal tradegy I suffered a little over a year ago has dealt repercussions in every aspect of my personal and professional life.
While I am finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, I know you will understand that I need to take the rest of 2019 off and continue my healing process
New show format.
I would like to share with you the alarming trend happening industry wide. Show owners, manufacturers and nail techs are feeling the effects.
After speaking with many key players including our trade magazine's, its clear they all agree on one thing.
Big and small companies have been pulling out of the trade show circuit across the board. Overall attendance has been dwindling.
Many companies are attending only 1 or 2 shows for the entire year.
If I was left with only one ability...it would be to recognize... when CHANGE is needed.
2020
We have always taken pride in offering fun affordable opportunities for our vendors and attendees. That's something you can always count on.
The future of our industry relies on providing important education and the mentorship new techs need coming out of school.
BNST will not get left in the dust. We will leave the pipe and drape behind, the expansive floor space and hectic scheduling by redirecting our focus to an "education based" show with lots of product sales and a super fun party. Education is how most of us get a raise.
All is not lost. We have a couple companies that will still be coming to Texas. We are helping to provide a "pop up" place for them to sell and educate. These details will be announced asap.
It's takes hard work and dedication to put on a great show for yall...a labor of love.
Speaking of great....
GM Michelle Aab, has been the engine that kept us in motion over that last 15 months.
Her character as a true friend and keen business associate has never once faltered. Her dedication is worth much more recognition than I can ever give her. I am so very blessed to have a friend in her...even when I drive her madd sometimes. I would not be writing this letter if not for the unconditional love and support she had shown me since moving to Texas. Her values and ethics are stellar...and her loyalty can not be topped.
From my heart, I am a very lucky person to have her on my side of the industry.
Thank you...Nail Pros, educators, manufacturers for your patience, understanding and continued support. Thank you for your loyalty and encouragement especially over the last year.
Attendees who are due refunds will be accommodated in a timely manner.
Please direct your concerns to [email protected] and I will respond promptly.
We will see you next year.
My better self
Athena xoxo
