Reader Nation invites you to have a conversation with a child over a book this week! Reading to young children increases vocabulary, encourages imagination, and helps wire the brain for later learning! Check out the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten initiative and visit the Madison County Library to learn more!

It is not too early to start preparing your Kindergarten Husky to eat in the cafeteria.

This summer, Husky Nation is taking on a BIG challenge… together, can we read 1,000 books or more?! All rising kindergarten through 5th grade is in on this challenge!

No apps.
No complicated rules.

Just grab a sheet of paper from home or print the attached log and start making a list of the books your child reads this summer! Whether you read to them or they read it themselves. 📚✏️

When school starts back, students will turn in their lists to Mrs. May and we’ll see if Husky Nation reached the goal! If we do… we’re celebrating with a SCHOOL WIDE PARTY! 🎉

And for our super readers… 👀
The TOP 10 readers in EACH grade level who read the most books this summer will earn a special private celebration when school begins!

Read at bedtime.
Read on vacation.
Read by the pool.
Read with a flashlight.
