🛑 **“IT WAS JUST A JOKE.”**

We hear it all the time.

“I was just kidding.”
“We always mess with each other.”
“They know I didn’t mean it.”
“Everybody was laughing.”

But here’s a question worth asking:

**Was the person you were joking about laughing too?**

Sometimes the words we forget five minutes later are the words someone else remembers for years.

Bullying doesn’t always look like pushing someone into a locker. Sometimes it’s the nickname they’ve asked you to stop using. The comment about their body. Their clothes. Their family. Their abilities. The rumor everyone keeps repeating.

And sometimes, the person laughing the loudest is only laughing because they don’t want anyone to know it hurts.

🍂 **FALL BREAK FAMILY CHALLENGE:**

Ask your child tonight:

**“Has someone ever said something was ‘just a joke’ that actually hurt you?”**

Then listen.

No lecture. No judgment. Just listen.

November will be here before we know it, and we’re getting excited for **Norwood’s Fall Festival on Friday, November 13th!** This is a night for our **whole community**, so grab your family and come join us! 💚🧡

🌮 **Indian Tacos, Chili & Beans** — 5:30–7:30 PM
🎯 **Festival Games** — 5:30–7:30 PM
🧺 **Theme Baskets** — 5:30–7:00 PM
🥧 **Pie Auction** — 7:45 PM in the gym

🐝💚 **HORNET PRIDE FRIDAY | EVERY CHILD NEEDS A PLACE TO BELONG**

A school should be more than classrooms, assignments and report cards.

It should be a place where a child walks through the door and knows:

**Someone knows my name.**

**Someone will notice if I'm not here.**

**Someone believes I can succeed.**

**I belong here.**

That's one of the beautiful things about being a small school.

We know our kids.

We celebrate their victories. We notice when they're struggling. We watch them grow up. And we get to be part of their story.

That's not something you'll find on a test score.

🤝💚 **YOU MATTER THURSDAY | SOMETIMES ANXIETY DOESN'T LOOK LIKE ANXIETY**

For a child, anxiety isn't always saying, *"I'm anxious."*

Sometimes it looks like:

• "My stomach hurts."

• "I don't want to go to school."

• Getting frustrated over something small.

• Being unusually quiet.

• Constantly worrying about making a mistake.

• Asking the same question over and over because they need reassurance.

Sometimes kids don't have the words to explain what they're feeling.

That's why patience matters.

Listening matters.

And reminding them that they don't have to figure everything out alone matters.

🌾 NORWOOD HORNETS — WE NEED YOUR HELP! 🌾

It’s time for the Cherokee County 4th Annual Hay Wrap Take Back, and we want NORWOOD to bring home the win! 🐝💚

From October 1 through March 31, we’re collecting used hay twine and hay wrap. Ask your family, friends, neighbors, farmers, ranchers — anyone you know — to save it and bring it to Norwood!

🏆 Here’s the big part: The school that collects the largest amount by weight will receive a minimum of $1,000 CASH! 💰

That’s money that could come right back to benefit our Norwood students!

So clean out those barns, check with your neighbors, and start gathering that hay wrap and twine. Every bag and every pound counts!

🐝 Let’s show Cherokee County what our little school can do!

🍩🐝 NORWOOD FAMILIES — IT’S DONUT TIME! 🐝🍩

We need your help getting those Impact Aid Surveys completed and returned!

These surveys are important because they may help Norwood Public School qualify for additional federal funding that can benefit our students, classrooms, programs, technology, supplies, and more.

And we decided to make it a little more fun…

🎉 ANY CLASS THAT GETS 100% OF THEIR SURVEYS RETURNED BY FRIDAY WILL EARN A DOUGHNUT PARTY! 🎉

That means every form matters, every student matters, and every class has a chance to win! 🍩

Our goal is to have ALL completed packets returned by Friday of this week, so please check backpacks, fill out the survey, and send it back as soon as possible.

💙🐝 **STAND UP WEDNESDAY | BULLYING ISN'T "JUST KIDS BEING KIDS"**

A joke isn't funny when someone is always the punchline.

A comment isn't harmless when someone goes home thinking about it all night.

And being cruel doesn't become okay simply because it happened through a screen.

We want our students to understand that **their words have power**.

Use them to include someone.

Use them to encourage someone.

Use them to stand up for someone who doesn't feel strong enough to stand up for themselves.

And if you're the one being hurt, **tell someone. You deserve to feel safe at school.**

🐝 **Real Hornet Pride means making sure everyone feels like they belong.**
