Yesterday Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department K-9 unit, S.T.A.R.S. and Walmart visited our third grade students and dropped off a large donation of school supplies. We loved getting to learn about the K-9 program. Thank you for visiting us and being so generous!

It’s Election Day at Hughson Elementary… Candy Election, that is. After choosing some noteworthy candidates, M&M’s, Sour Patch Kids and Tic Tacs, our third grade students, campaigned for their favorites and today they got to vote! Students checked in to vote, got their ballot, were assigned to a polling booth, cast their vote and after showing their IDs, turned in their ballot and received their very important “I voted today,” sticker. In chatting with them following their voting experience, one student shared that this was one of the most stressful experiences she’s had. We now know how serious they took their voting experience. This wraps up the 3rd grade unit on government and wouldn’t be possible without the help of our Parent Teacher Club!

First grade teachers are missing? No, they made their way to a very important training where they learned about the new math curriculum and then got to dig into planning together. They will be back to their classrooms tomorrow, but we sure appreciate them having this learning opportunity!

Whomever designed to have our dumpsters near the TK/Kindergarten playground was a genius. Our little ones love when the garbage gets picked up. Three cheers for the sanitation workers! The kids also love when they toot the horn to say goodbye!

Our kindergartners are exploring with manipulatives as part of our new math curriculum. Math is so much fun!
