A reminder that anyone interested in AKC’s Spring Scurry, can find information here -

The AKC FIT DOG Spring Scurry is a virtual 5K (3.1 miles) that people do with their dogs. The non-competitive 5K Spring Scurry can be done all at one time, or in smaller segments on multiple days so that everyone (people and dogs) can participate at their own pace. Hello everyone! Janet here. It was great to catch up with everyone at the Celtic Classic! I wanted to follow up with a couple of things regarding Fit Dog.

First, I wanted to attach an example of a screenshot of Piero’s and my walk. This is from our walk this morning, and when submitting the forms and backup to AKC, I submitted screenshots of all of our walks. (This screenshot is off an app that I use called Fit Walk, but as I said in my talk, there are a ton of apps out there that can record your walk.

The second thing, I wanted to share is that AKC has a virtual event this spring - the 2026 Spring Scurry. It is conducted on “scouts honor” and can count under item B (runs/community events). More information can be found here - https://www.akc.org/sports/akc-family-dog-program/akc-fit-dog/.

MAIGC had a successful week at the Celtic Cluster. Great entries, some very nice judges and a fabulous raffle.

Thank you to Mary Somma and her family for donating two huge baskets of goodies and shamrock refrigerator magnets and IG cutouts. They were extremely popular.

Pat Johnson designed the logo for our theme and embroidered it onto the two director style lawn chairs she donated.

Janet Brake donated a ton of food for our pot luck, made baskets for the raffle along with Pat Johnson.

Alicia Reed donated items and made throw blankets we used as trophies.

Celeste Mulcrone donated her fresh eggs which sold immediately.

Kandis and Steve Swan survived fried chicken trauma (restaurant had a power outage) and donated fried chicken to our pot luck dinner.

On Wednesday, we had 35 entries, Friday 34, Sunday 25. Great entries with lots of very nice quality IGs. Our exhibitors were from as far away as California, Texas and Michigan.

We also had three judges sit in for ringside mentoring and tutoring session. We will watch for them to be licensed for IGs.

We are all ready to plan for next year and hope to see everyone there, even with interesting weather!

Friday MAIGC specialty with sweepstakes: 14 sweeps, 35 conf.
Saturday Empire specialty: 11 sweepstakes 28 conf.
Sunday MAIGC specialty 24

These are preliminary and subject to change.

We are also offering ringside hospitality, raffles, a short seminar on AKC Fit Dog on Friday, a potluck dinner Friday evening at ringside and much more.

Our shows have been approved for the 2026 Celtic Cluster March 11-15, 2026 at York, PA fairgrounds. We are very excited to announce MAIGC's Friday, March 13, 2026 Sweepstakes and Veteran Sweepstakes judge. Our judge will be Emily White who will be arriving all the way from California to judge our sweeps. I hope she will have the opportunity to see many of our beautiful east coast puppies!

MAIGC is again holding specialties along with Empire IG Club at the Celtic Cluster of 2026 in York PA. The dates are: March 14 through March 15, 2026. MAIGC specialties will be Friday March 13 and Sunday March 15, 2026. As always, we will have our pot luck dinner, auction table and a special event for IG's and their humans to participate in. We hope you will join us!
