Our second graders welcomed Carol Amos from the SPCA to the Primary Center for a powerful presentation that brought their learning to life!
After finishing an informational text about dogs and reading Can I Be Your Dog?, each student wrote a persuasive piece encouraging someone to adopt a dog. They put their writing skills to work for a cause with plenty of heart—and a few wagging tails! 🐶✏️

🍂 Mrs. Antal’s class is FALL-ing into learning! 🎃
Today’s fall centers were full of seasonal discoveries! Students observed acorns, hickory nuts, winged seeds, and different kinds of leaves—including a BIG elephant ear leaf! 🌿🔍
They also graphed colorful leaves, made pumpkins, and listened to a fall story before drawing their favorite part. 📊🖍️📖
From nature discoveries to math and storytelling, these little learners are turning over a new leaf with every activity! 🍁

After playing a four voices sorting game, students used egg shakers to graph their results—with the four spaces on the music staff serving as their graph! 📊🎵

🚒🔥 Sound the Alarm! Our Little Fire Marshals Are on the Job! 🔥🚒

👩‍🚒🧯 Fire Prevention Week was a BLAST in Ms. Chromey and Mrs. Walski’s class!

Our little firefighters participated in The Hartford’s Junior Fire Marshal® Program, learning all about fire safety and how to help keep themselves and their families safe! 🏠❤️

🚨 The students were able to learn important fire safety rules, tour a virtual fire house, see what kind of equipment firefighters need and discover what it takes to be a Junior Fire Marshal. Our students had so much fun becoming fire safety SUPERSTARS! 🌟

🔥 Big lessons for little learners! We are so proud of our future fire safety heroes! 🚒❤️

Get ready for a fun-filled Pittston Area Primary Center Spirit Week from Monday, October 26 through Friday, October 30! 🎉
Each day brings a new way to show our school spirit:
🏈 Monday, 10/26 – Team Logo Day
Wear a jersey or T-shirt representing your favorite team!
🤪 Tuesday, 10/27 – Crazy Hair, Hat & Sock Day
Rock some crazy hair, a fun hat, silly socks—or all three!
🌈 Wednesday, 10/28 – Tie-Dye Day
Fill the Primary Center with color in your favorite tie-dye!
❤️🤍💙 Thursday, 10/29 – Cheer on the Patriots!
Wear red, white and blue and show your Patriot pride!
🎃📣 Friday, 10/30 – Pep Rally & Halloween Celebration
End the week with lots of school spirit and Halloween fun! Students may wear their Halloween costumes.
📸 REMINDER: This is also Picture Week!
Please be sure to dress appropriately for school pictures on your child’s scheduled picture day.

🦋 A Spring Science Lesson… with a Fall Surprise! 🍂🔬
Sometimes the best learning experiences aren’t on the lesson plan!
Mrs. Antal happened to find a monarch butterfly caterpillar in our parking lot and brought it into the classroom just in time for her students to witness an incredible transformation. What is typically a science investigation planned for the spring quickly became an impromptu fall science study!
Students were able to observe the caterpillar stage before watching it form its chrysalis. Then came the hardest part—waiting! After nearly two weeks of observation and anticipation, the class arrived at the exciting finale today: their beautiful monarch butterfly emerged! 🦋
After getting one final up-close look at their classroom visitor, students released the monarch outside to continue its journey.
From caterpillar ➡️ chrysalis ➡️ butterfly, this unexpected visitor turned an ordinary fall day into a hands-on lesson about life cycles, change, patience, and the wonder of nature.

🍁 Fall Learning Is Coming to Life at the Primary Center! 🍁
Our classrooms are full of hands-on learning this fall! Students have been rotating through small-group fall learning centers, practicing important skills through seasonal activities, and using our new math program, Waggle, on their computers to build math skills in a fun and interactive way. 💻➕🍂
In Mrs. Walski’s class, the fall fun even got a little spooky! 👻 Mrs. Ignatovich and Mrs. Scalese read There Was an Old Mummy Who Swallowed a Spider, and then students brought the story to life during their speech and occupational therapy group by following a recipe to create edible spiders! 🕷️🍴
From math and literacy to speech, fine motor skills, technology, and a little tasty creativity, our Primary Center students are proving that the best learning happens when we can see it, make it, explore it—and sometimes even eat it! 🎃🍎📚
