Thirty years ago, the Brooklane Baptist Academy Eagles completed an undefeated season by facing one of the nation’s top-ranked eight-man football teams from Texas.
The championship game was played in temperatures near 40 degrees, on a muddy field and in fog so thick that players could barely see the ball coming toward them on a kickoff. Despite the brutal conditions, the Eagles prevailed—putting the perfect ending on a perfect season and claiming the 1996 national championship.
What a remarkable piece of Brooklane history and Eagles lore!
