March 6 Highlights- This 3Talkers Toastmasters meeting included member speeches, evaluations, club business, and an announcement about CLCON, the Toastmasters District 31 Conference to begin on May 15th. We had a guest who introduced herself and talked about her public speaking and leadership interests. Members gave brief introductions; we reviewed today’s role assignments. Our first speaker delivered a talk, "Rescue Me," recounting volunteers transporting refugees across the Dnieper River in Ukraine and a local organization’s effort to source and deliver a Suzuki outboard engine from Denmark to the rescue squad. The account covered international fundraising, locating and securing the engine in Denmark, transportation through adjacent countries, and final handoff in Kiev to a rescue squad member for delivery. Our second speaker presented a competition speech arguing that AI and automation should remove repetitive tasks while creating supervisory roles requiring human judgment. The meeting continued with Table Topics followed by evaluations of both speeches focusing on imagery, pacing, wording, and technical clarity. Also, grammarian and filler-word reports, timing reports for all roles. We assigned roles for next week. Another great 3Talker Toastmasters weekly meeting!

Our February 13th meeting focused on prepared speeches, Table Topics, and evaluation feedback. A couple of our speakers will be participating in the upcoming Toastmasters Contest in Sudbury, Ma. on March 1st. Our 1st speaker delivered a contest-preparation speech, "Finding the Hidden Workaround," advocating automation to remove repetitive harmful tasks and asking attendees to identify automatable tasks. The Evaluator noted opportunity for relaxed pacing and suggested more use of pauses and gestures. Also, it was recommended to not try to hard to memorize the entire speech, but rather, just memorize the key points. The speech ought to follow smoothly after that. Our second speaker provided a speech about his family. His speech was evaluated, too. Table Topics had the theme of "love," and prompted nominal 2 minute responses on topics such as distinctions between liking and loving as well as difficult relationships. There was a contribution from all attendees. Our General Evaluator commented on the evaluations for both speakers as well as the entire meeting process. A report on filler words and speech timing followed. Our next 3Talkers meeting will be on February 20th.
