Today Alvirne FFA students competed in both Forage and Forestry events at UNH!

Forestry team events included two man crosscut, bowsaw, log roll, and general knowledge exam. Individual events included tree measurement, compass and pacing, log scaling, log splitting, tree identification and precision chainsaw operation.

Veterinary Science II students brought their knowledge from the classroom and put it to work today! Students have been learning how to identify specific plants found in hay, haylage and silage, the production of these food sources and quality of these crops, the soil and nutrients.

Students enjoyed the beautiful views, the UNH mill, equine barn and a wonderful lunch at the dining hall!

Both teams will learn their placings soon, we will keep you posted!

Today was the Palmer CTE's Career Day, with the theme of Sustainability in Agriculture . Veterinary Science students prepared for this day and researched the importance of veterinary medicine in production animals to include rabbits, poultry, swine, sheep, dairy cattle and beef cattle. Mrs. Graham and Mrs. Bliss are proud of all the students hard work and professionalism as they shared their knowledge with others! Great job!
