Hello Cobra Families,

We are looking forward to some exciting events for students and families starting this week! It is my belief that when students come to school and actively engage in their learning, finding opportunities to also support them socially is important.

Wednesday 8/26 is our All Pro Pops with Parents. Families wishing to attend the event at 1:45pm may park in the field to the north of the carline next to the exit lane. The event is for students and at least one ADULT family member to share some time together while enjoying free popcorn, soda pop, and popsicles.

Thursday 8/27 is our Parent Academy for Acceleration from 6:00-7:30pm. The target audience is families with students taking high school courses in middle school. The purpose is to share information on expectations this year, benefits for the future, information on FHS and HHS options, and scholarship information.

Friday 8/28 is our Back to School Dance from 1:30-3:00pm. If you are an approved volunteer and would like to chaperone, please contact Ms. Giambanco at the front desk. Tickets will be $5 and on sale during lunches starting Wednesday 8/26. Concessions and Kona Ice will be available at the event for extra purchase. We remind parents that the pick up time is 3:00, out of courtesy for our volunteer staff that has stayed after hours to make the event possible

For families using the car line, HAC traffic can ONLY enter and exit from Kitten Trail. There is no parking on allowed anywhere on Cobra Way. For families that have both HAC and HHS students, it is safest to have both use the HAC car line. Thank you to those who follow these expectations. As more families follow these expectations, the car line will become smoother and safer. All students enter the campus through the gate closest to the cafeteria, daily, so they may have breakfast.

Sports Information: To participate in tryouts, students must have all athletic forms completed, submitted, and cleared prior to the tryout time. Please see our website for details: https://hac.pasco.k12.fl.us/athletics/athletics-home. All tickets for games can be purchased at GoFan.co. Pick up for all students from games is no later than 8:30pm and students (players and spectators) must be picked up from practices and tryouts on time. We are excited to offer these opportunities and ask your consideration of the time supervising adults are responsible.

Tuesday’s 8/25 Football game has been RESCHEDULED to 10/27 against Seven Springs @ HHS.

Football parent meeting will be on 8/25 at 3:30 in the gym following practice. Important information about the season and athlete expectations will be passed out. Athletic fees MUST be paid prior to the first game.

Basketball is offering open gym with Coach Walsh on Wednesdays from 1:30-3:15 starting 9/14. Students MUST have athletic clearance to participate.

Gaming Club and eSports interest meeting will be on Thursday 8/27 from 1:30-2:30 in Mr. O’Connell’s room.

Important Reminders:

In the parent portal, make sure to complete the Parent Bill of Rights acknowledgements. These must be completed prior to accessing any other information in the parent portal. Some of the consents that need to be given: access to be treated in the clinic for minor medical needs, permission to use the school library, permission to be photographed for the yearbook and student recognitions, etc.

The District Dress Code is enforced at HAC. Students are not permitted to have hats, hoods, or any other types of head coverings. Clothing may not expose any undergarments. Please the Student Code of Conduct for more information: pdf icon 26-27 Student Code of Conduct (final).pdf

HB 1105 has changed the electronic use policy for students. All personal devices are required to be OFF and put away the ENTIRE school day. Wireless communication devices ("WCDs") include computers, laptops, tablets, e-readers, cellular/mobile phones, smartphones, telephone paging devices (e.g. beepers or pagers), web-enabled devices, head-mounted displays, virtual headsets, smart-glasses, smart pens, and any other kind of device, regardless of shape or form, that has the capability to capture, record, relay, emit, or transmit data, information, images, sound, or other signals. This definition also includes peripheral devices that have a wired or wireless connection to a WCD; examples include, but are not limited to headphones, earbuds, watches with wired and wireless capabilities, etc. If parents need to communicate with students throughout the day, it will need to be done through the front desk. Students will not be permitted to check/return calls/texts during the instructional day. Electronic devices and student accounts provided by the school are expected to be used for academic purposes only and not to access or share inappropriate or harmful content.

The staff car parking lot is closed at 6:45am to student drop off and pick up after 1:15pm. This is to ensure staff and student safety during our highest transition time. Please enter HAC from Kitten Trail and use the carline responsibly. Dropping students off on the side of Cobra Way is unsafe and not permitted.
