This is me receiving my first degree black belt from Grandmaster Beins in 1985. When I first started in his dojo, I had no idea the mentor and friend he would become or the impact he would have on my life. He has been there for me through every high and every low. Always giving me the comfort that no matter what, I had a true friend to lean on. I can only hope to be the kind of friend that he has been to me, but find it hard to believe that's even possible.
Today is the 44th anniversary of Art Beins Karate. An amazing accomplishment considering today's landscape. I want to thank you Sir for the opportunity you've given me to share what you shared with me with others and a million other things.
