Manalapan High School senior Aryanna Cetrulo is proving that student-led innovation can break global barriers. A Science & Engineering (S&E) Magnet Program student, Aryanna, is leveraging technology to solve a challenge close to home: making education truly accessible for neurodivergent and visually impaired learners.
Aryanna’s journey gained momentum at HackFRee 2024, where she won the "Best DEI Hack" award for ReadEase Pro. Inspired by her family’s experience with dyslexia, she used her first-ever web app to provide free, accessible fonts and bimodal reading tools for those with ADHD and dyslexia.
Currently, Aryanna is partnering with classmate Anika Tokala for their S&E senior project. Mentored by industry experts from IEEE, Bell Labs, and AT&T, the duo is tackling a major digital hurdle: the inability of screen readers to accurately interpret complex mathematical equations. On January 28, Aryanna and Anika presented their work at the Semester 1 Science & Engineering Senior Presentations, highlighting both their technical approach and the broader implications for accessibility in education.
On January 24, Aryanna’s advocacy went global. She presented her research at a virtual event hosted by The Light Millennium in observance of the International Day of Education, aligned with UNESCO’s 2026 theme on youth co-creation in education. She emphasized that removing barriers to learning is essential for meaningful inclusion and equitable education.
As Aryanna prepares for college, she plans to continue exploring how technology can expand access and opportunity.
Aryanna’s message is clear: Accessibility in education isn't optional—it’s essential. We can’t wait to see how she continues to change the world!

Bob Weir had dyslexia...
Confession: I'm a Dead Head. It is with sadness that I just learned about the passing of Grateful Dead co-founder and musician, Bob Weir. His dyslexia - which he learned about later in life- challenged him when he was in school. However, he attributed how he compensated for his dyslexia to lead to his distinctive playing and connection with music.
"Once in a while, you get shown the light, in the strangest of places if you look at it right". RIP Bob.
