We wanted to take a moment and post an update on work permits that was put into place by the State of Michigan on October 2nd. This website is now live, and will need to be used instead of the paper copies through the school. The state is now tracking and approving all of the work permits. The schools have no part of the approval process any longer.

Today's the day!

Michigan's new Youth Employment Permit Portal (YEPP) is now live.

Employers hiring workers under age 18 and minors seeking employment should now use YEPP to complete the youth employment permit process.

Get started with YEPP login instructions: michigan.gov/yepp

This year our staff kicked off the school year with an eye-opening professional development trip to the Schools to Tools facility in Wayland. While there, we were able to explore high-demand career pathways for students in the construction and skilled trades sectors.

If you are a recent high school graduate, or a student who is interested in a skilled trade or construction job, this would be a great opportunity to learn about the apprenticeships offered by Schools to Tools. If you would like to learn about Schools to Tools, please check out their website at https://schoolstotools.org/.

With another year, we wanted to send a housekeeping message of sorts. Some may already have this information and others may not.

Closed Campus:
*We are a closed campus, so if your students are in classes all day at the high school they should not be leaving the school to get food, gas, drinks, etc...

**If your student has college classes that are not in session a certain day or have career center for half of the day, they are able to leave and come back.

Attendance:
* If your child signs out on their own, we still need a parent/guardian to call and excuse the absence.

**Absences for missing the bus or oversleeping are not excused per the student handbook.

Email:
*Many of our senior updates are sent through email to studentVue or ParentVue. Please make sure you are checking this regularly for important deadlines.

Food Deliveries:
*Tri County High School will not accept deliveries from outside food companies like Grub Hub, Door Dash, or company specific deliveries for students during school hours. Parents and family members are welcome to drop food off for students.

**We do not want to pull students out of class time or lunch, or have them leave class, to get their deliveries.

Student Driving:
* Any student who is driving to the high school should have a permit. They can fill out the parking permit paperwork and turn that into the office.

** Any student who is driving to the career center will need the high school parking permit and the career center driving form on file at the high school. For the career center form we will also need a copy of their license and insurance. They will also have to fill out the career center's driving forms as well.

Dances:
* With school dances underway, we wanted to remind parents that if a student is bringing a guest, high school student or graduate 20 years of age or younger, they need to fill out and turn in a dance guest form to the office by 3PM the Wednesday before the dance. These need to be signed by parents and the guests principal before being turned in.

If you ordered a 2025-2026 yearbook for your student last year, they are in! If you were not able to pick them up last Friday, they are now in the high school office.

The office is open between 7AM and 3PM Monday through Friday, but we are trying to get them out to current students over the next couple of days. If you are a graduate of the class of 2026 feel free to reach out if you need to make arrangements for someone to grab yours.
