Stevens Elementary is a K-5 Magnet school for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics (STEAM); one of only two STEAM elementary campuses in HISD. STEAM education is an opportunity for students to engage, explore and make sense of the natural world through inquiry and project-based learning, rather than merely learning isolated bits and pieces. As a school-wide magnet program, student
s at Stevens engage in project-based learning that prepares them to become creative problem solvers, effective communicators, and leaders through a rigorous, engineering themed curriculum and collaborative partnerships. Our STEAM Magnet program provides students with an inspiring, challenging and engaging environment that creates opportunities for research and exploration through project-based learning. Our curriculum incorporates STEAM by embracing an interdisciplinary approach. Students culminate with 21st Century skills that encourage the use of problem-solving, collaboration, creativity and academic excellence. STEAM education is designed to inspire in our students a passion for science, engineering and technology through the arts. A wide range of extracurricular activities and clubs provide an opportunity to further engage and develop each student based on their interests.
