🍧 Snow Cone Day—Nothing says summer like snow cones! Our District Advancement Champions kicked off the season with a cool treat from Kona Ice.

📢 HASPRA—School communications professionals across the Houston area gathered at the McKinney Conference Center for this month's Houston Area School Public Relations Association (HASPRA) meeting. Guests sharpened their storytelling skills with guest speakers Matt Musil, former KHOU Reporter and current Communications Director of the Houston Parks and Recreation Department, and Randy McIlvoy, KPRC Sports Director. Special thanks to Finalsite for sponsoring the event.

📚 Access to the General Curriculum Conference—Guests learned strategies that strengthened teaching and learning for every student.

🏆 Superintendent of the Year—We surprised Dr. Roosevelt Nivens of Lamar CISD with the news that he’s the 2025 Region 4 Superintendent of the Year! Lamar CISD

🎉 School Board of the Year—The Galena Park ISD Board of Trustees was named the 2025 Region 4 School Board of the Year, and their reaction was priceless! Galena Park ISD

🛠️ Bleeding Control Kits—We awarded 15 districts with lifesaving Bleeding Control Kits to support emergency readiness across Region 4.

The Galena Park ISD Board’s exceptional leadership, community commitment, and focus on student success have led to expanded dual credit programs, ACT School Day access for all students, and strengthened mental health supports.
Their work reflects the very best of public education governance, and we are proud to nominate them for the Texas Association of School Administrators Outstanding School Board Award.

Join us in celebrating our Region 4 Superintendent of the Year, Dr. Roosevelt Nivens of Lamar CISD!

Dr. Nivens has served as Superintendent since 2021, leading the fastest-growing district of its size in Texas—with more than 47,000 students across more than 50 campuses.

With nearly three decades in public education, Dr. Nivens began his career as a teacher in Dallas ISD and has held multiple leadership roles across the state. A proud son of educators, he’s dedicated to advocating for excellent educational opportunities for all students.

Way to go, Dr. Nivens, on this well-deserved honor!
