Are you or someone you know interested in starting music lessons? Our School of Fine Arts offers a wide variety of lessons for both adults and children! We have amazing and talented teachers who would love to help you learn or improve your skills on any of the instruments listed below. Our piano teachers have careers outside of teaching. One of our longtime piano teachers, Dr Ruby Hangfong Au had the privilege of accompanying violinist, Dr. Ricardo de Mello for the Grieg Sonata No. in G Major earlier this past summer. Dr. De Mello has a very impressive career, including playing for many dignitaries, including the late Princess Diana, former President Bill Clinton and the former Secretary of State, Henry Kissinger. What in the world has happened to our beloved Sanctuary piano?
The keyboard of our 1986 Kawai grand Sanctuary piano has been removed to regulate it. Additionally, the hammers will be reshaped to correct flattening and to remove the string grooves left by 37 years of use. Other settings will be adjusted back to factory settings. The School of Fine Arts Board enlisted technician Roger Slaid of Roger Slaid Piano Tuning to do the work. All of our Worship musicians and SFA students will benefit from the piano being returned to like-new condition!

This Sunday at 4 PM at Trinity Episcopal Midtown Church, 1015 Holman St, 77004, our School of Fine Arts Voice teacher, Alicia Gianni will be the featured Soprano Soloist for the Houston Masterworks Chorus’ presentation of “Te Deum Unfolding”. She will be the soloist for Anton Bruckner’s “Te Deum”. It is sure to be worth your while.

A reminder for tomorrow: We hope you will join us for a School of Fine Arts Faculty Piano Recital, at 2 pm. Jonathan Mak, our newest Piano Instructor in our School of Fine Arts, will play a recital in our Sanctuary where he will perform the competition repertoire that he will be playing in the 2023 Naumburg Piano Competition in New York City later this month. Don’t miss it!
