An amazing emergence at the Waugh Bridge last night!
The Houston Bat Team
Bat education and conservation in the Greater Houston Area. Waugh Bridge is the second largest urban bat colony in the U.S.
The Houston Bat Team promotes awareness of bat conservation through public education and monitoring bat populations at select sites. providing an impressive urban wildlife display in spring and summer at sunset with 300 thousand bats departing for their night time feeding. We provide talks about bats the first, third, and last Friday May through October.
While there is a small threat of bad weather, the bat chat at the Waugh Bridge is still on! The chat will start about 7:30. BUT IF the weather takes a bad turn we will have to cancel for the night to ensure the safety of our volunteers and guests. Keep an eye on the weather! Our Friday night chats always start 20 minutes before sunset and will continue through October.

Happy Earth Day! Time to thank the bats. :) 🦇💚
Bats keep our planet healthy by pollinating plants and spreading the seeds of over 400 different commercial products and 80 medicines that helps humans survive. Tens of thousands of other plants and animals depend on bats for survival. Bats eat literal tons of disease carrying insects as well as eat crop pests, helping greatly to keep food on our tables. 98% of all rain-forest regrowth (the lungs of our planet) comes from seeds that have been spread by fruit bats.
Bats make up one-quarter of all mammal species on earth. If it takes that many of them to keep our planet in sync, where will humans be without bats?

❌ "Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?" Overused, trite.
✅ "Shall I compare thee to a bat in flight?" Unique, sure to win over any prospective lover.
