Meet Joshua C. - Senior at Challenge Early College High School
Intern Info: Desktop Support Intern, NRG
Post-Secondary Plans: Attending Houston Christian University and receiving the Grace Hopper Scholarship.
“Before Genesys Works, I didn't really know what working in a professional environment looked like. The program gave me real work experience that most people my age don't get, and I think that puts me ahead as I go into whatever comes next. After high school, I plan to go to HCU and major in cybersecurity. My goal is to land a job in cybersecurity after I graduate, whether that's working for a company protecting their systems or something on the more technical side, like IT. The experience I've gotten through Genesys Works has made me feel more prepared for that path and more sure that I want to pursue it.” - Joshua

I've had to really apply myself at times, which has helped me become more adaptable and responsible, and will definitely help me later in life when I start a career in law. I'm looking forward to pursuing a political science degree with a minor in business, management, and leadership at Tufts University! ” - Chelsea

Meet Kelechi I. - Senior at George Bush High School
Intern Info: Structural Engineering Analytics Intern, Walter P Moore
Post-Secondary Plans: Attending Tufts University School of Engineering.
“Genesys Works has pushed me to grow both personally and professionally. What I enjoy most about my internship is the flexibility. My experience at my current internship has given me the confidence to thrive both in and out of a professional setting. I plan to major in civil engineering at Tufts University, aiming to earn a bachelor’s degree and possibly pursue a specialized graduate program. I’m interested in shaping and designing the physical environment, and I’m still exploring where I fit between civil engineering, landscape architecture, and urban planning.” - Kelechi
Now Meet Emily T. - Senior at Challenge Early College High School
Intern Info: Level II Support Tech Intern, Service Corporation International (SCI)
Post-Secondary Plans: Attending the University of Houston on the Academic Excellence Scholarship. Proud BigFuture ambassador and recognized by the College Board National Recognition Program.
“I would say that Genesys Works has positively impacted my life because I made meaningful relationships with my coworkers. I was introduced to new hobbies I enjoy, like flower arranging and cooking. Can you believe my AVP, David Jameson, likes Taylor Swift?! Like when you work a corporate job, people are all so different. I think this taught me that the corporate environment isn't super intimidating when you have the most amazing team. I plan to attend UH - Main Campus after high school, enroll in (hopefully) the Gessner College of Nursing at UH, and graduate within 3 years.” - Emily
