Every great story has a beginning, and the story of F.A.C.E.S. began with a family determined to help one little boy. ❤️
During a recent site visit with a local ABA therapy center, I saw the name of our co founder and President Emeritus, Larry Wallace, on a plaque, and I couldn’t help but smile.
Larry and Pat’s first grandson, Hunter, was diagnosed with autism shortly before his second birthday. When their daughter learned that ABA therapy could help Hunter but could cost thousands of dollars to get started, Larry and Pat made an incredible act of love. They sold their vacation home, gave her the money, and told her to begin his therapy right away.
But their compassion didn’t stop with their own family.
They began thinking about all the other children who needed ABA therapy but whose families simply couldn’t afford it. That realization became the beginning of F.A.C.E.S.
Twenty years later, F.A.C.E.S. has awarded more than $3.5 million in scholarships to hundreds of children throughout Greater Houston. Today, we proudly work with more than 50 ABA therapy centers, and that number continues to grow each year.
Larry, it’s easy to understand why Spectrum Of Hope chose to honor you and Hunter by dedicating one of its centers in your names. Your compassion, generosity, and vision have changed countless lives.
Seeing your name on that plaque made me incredibly proud, and I feel so fortunate to help continue the work you started.
And thank you, Hunter, for being the inspiration behind it all. ❤️
