We are beyond proud to share that our students recently competed in the 31st Chinese Speech Contest —presented by the Global Federation of Chinese Business Women, Southern USA Chapter — and they absolutely shone!

MIMS (Houston's Mandarin Immersion Magnet School) is a fantastic public school, but demand consistently exceeds capacity: 823 applications were received for 89 kinder seats last year (and many of those seats were reserved for pre-K students and for siblings).

Students will build Mandarin skills through classroom learning and real-world experiences while exploring local markets, creating traditional crafts, and discovering Taiwan’s rich culture alongside friends and family.

MISH rings in the Lunar New Year with joy, community, and lots of dumplings! 🥟🐴

Each family brought their own version of dumpling filling, sharing flavors, traditions, and stories as we cooked together. MISH students, staff, families, and friends celebrated with traditional foods and snacks, red envelopes, and beautiful paper-cutting led by the Mandarin Center of the Universities of St. Thomas and Wenzao Ursuline.

Moments like these bring language and culture to life—through shared traditions, creativity, and connection. 新年快乐! 🧧

Friday was a big day of history, art, and culture for our MISH students ✨

From standing face-to-face with the Terracotta Warriors at Houston Museum of Natural Science to learning the meaning and beauty behind blue and white Chinese porcelain (青花瓷) at the Mandarin Center of the Universities of St. Thomas and Wenzao Ursuline, our students experienced Chinese civilization through both history and hands-on art.
