Campus Operations Update!

UPDATE - Campus Closure Through Sept. 14

As an update to our previous message, the University of Houston-Clear Lake, including Pearland and the Texas Medical Center locations, will be closed on Tuesday, Sept. 14 due to inclement weather associated with Tropical Storm Nicholas. All classes, activities, and business operations during this time are canceled to allow students and staff to care for themselves and their families.

UHCL police and emergency management will remain on campus to monitor the situation. Students and staff residing in Hunter Residence Hall who wish to stay in place may do so. An update regarding campus operational status for Wednesday, Sept. 15 will be issued tomorrow by 3 pm. Please monitor emails, social media, text messages, and www.uhcl.edu for status updates.

Due to expected high winds and rain, UH-Clear Lake, including Pearland and the Texas Medical Center locations, will be closing on Monday, Sept. 13 at noon. All Monday afternoon and evening classes will be canceled. In addition, on Tuesday, Sept. 14, all classes will move to online delivery mode and all business operations will move to remote status.

Students and staff residing in Hunter Residence Hall who wish to remain in place may do so. An update regarding class and operational status for Wednesday, Sept. 15 will be issued tomorrow by 3 p.m. Students and employees are encouraged to keep their professors and supervisors informed should weather impact their ability to attend class or work. As weather conditions may change, please monitor the university social media, email, and text messages for possible status updates, or visit www.uhcl.edu.

Based on Governor Abbott’s Executive Order 36, and with guidance from the UH System, UH-Clear Lake will no longer require masks or other face coverings while on campus, effective immediately. We encourage you to continue wearing a mask to keep yourself and your fellow Hawks safe if you have not been vaccinated.

The next on-campus vaccination event is tomorrow, May 20, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Garden Room. Harris County Public Health will offer the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, while supplies last. Full update: http://ow.ly/99uu50EQOff.

UHCL Hawks! Today is the last day to complete the NACCC survey to get a snapshot of the racial climate on our campus! Check your UHCL email for an email received on April 6 with the subject “Racial Climate at UHCL: Your Voice Affects Change.” The email would have been addressed from: Aaron Hart, Ed.D., Vice President for Student Affairs.

We are at the end of Finals Stretch week. One more event tonight - Late Night breakfast at 7:30pm. We are showing Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse at 8pm.
