It was a great day to get outside! The temperature was much cooler and it was cloudy!!

My oldest son and I had a picnic and a walk at one of the best hidden gems in Houston’s inner loop, The Eastern Glades at Memorial Park.

It is very peaceful and serene. We enjoyed the beautiful scenery! Go check it out!

Location: Bane Park

This park is a one stop-shop for family fun! There are baseball fields, a Harris County Public Library, playgrounds, a small splash pad, and a few short trails in the woods. Also, we love to picnic at this park, but not on the weekends. It is too crowded. The pond is stocked with rainbow trout each year for catch-and-release or you can keep three. My kids’ favorite part of this park is watching the nutria/coypu!😳

Check out a beautiful gem in Jersey Village. The park is located across from the Jersey Meadows Golf Course. There is a dog park, a gravel bike/walking trail, fishing, bird watching, and a super fun hill to roll down!

Grab some delicious food at Mia’s Table, Torchy’s Tacos or Kirby Ice House Memorial! Then, go check out MetroNational’s newest park/retention area! There is a really cool sculpture, two nice fountains and a short walking trail.

It was an awesome day to be outside! We explored the section of the park near Memorial and Eldridge.

We hiked the Cardinal Loop. Along the trail was a playground, sundial, BP’s Kid Fit Park, and bat houses. My kids enjoyed hiking down to the bayou and exploring. There favorite stop was the BP Kid Fit Park! This is a fantastic park for riding bikes both on the paved trails and off-road!

Bonus: if you love to shop local, stop by The Blue Willow Bookshop on Memorial Drive. It is about one mile from the park. The staff is so friendly and helpful; the shop is so quaint!

Check out the Kickerillo Nature Preserve located near Tomball Parkway! It is beautiful! Their calendar is full of many special events and activities. There is a 1.7 mile paved trail, sand volleyball court, gaga ball pit, two outdoor education spaces, a nature play area, pavilion, a lake, swings, and so much beauty!!!

Acton Academy Cy-Fair had an amazing field trip at Kickerillo today! Our Eagles enjoyed learning, playing and being in nature.

Beautiful, simple and serene are a few words to describe this awesome place! We ventured out with a few friends to check out this new place in Houston.

The boardwalk, lake, and trails definitely provided a perfect afternoon in nature. We only saw a frog, two squirrels, and a few small fish. The landscaping was amazing! The zoysia grass in the green spaces was so soft and fluffy.

Wow! This place is gem... lots of wildlife and so peaceful. We saw heron, bunnies, caterpillars, and turtles! Our favorite part was walking along the creek. There is plenty of shade, trails, a log cabin, and bridges.

Admission is free. Check it out; you will not be disappointed.

Location: Watonga Drive Bat Bridge Colony

Only mornings and evenings are bearable and enjoyable to be outside in the Houston heat (unless you are in the water).

Tonight, we took the family to Watonga Skate Park and Watonga Bat Bridge Colony along White Oak Bayou. If you go, be on the bridge by 8pm to see thousands of bat fly over your head!

Location: Galveston

Take a short drive to visit the beach! Though Galveston does not have white sand and blue water, it is quick trip from Houston for fun in the sun with the family.

Our family loves Surfside and Pointe West. There are also great beach pocket parks in Galveston.

Playing in the waves, building sand castles, searching for crabs and shells, and fishing were a few activities the kids enjoyed.

Location- Lakewood Crossing Park

It was a beautiful morning to enjoy a breeze and a cloudy sky! The boys hit the skate park, and the girls hit the trails. This is a great park with something for everyone! Bonus- We had the entire park to ourselves. If you explore the woods, look for the Lakewood Fairies Garden hidden in the forest.
