2026 Texas Southern University Graduating Arts Senior Ken Jackson presents at the 4th Annual HBCU-Arts conference in Martha’s Vineyard
2026 Texas Southern University Graduating Arts Senior Ken Jackson was selected as the exclusive traditional artist to present at the 4th Annual HBCU-Arts festival, conference and concert in Martha’s Vineyard. Ken presented his art at Union Chapel on August 1, 2026 along with a special presentation on Texas Southern University’s legendary artist and founding art school director Dr. John T. Biggers and his wife Hazel Biggers. Later, Ken also amazed and transformed concert attendees by creating a piece in real time titled ‘Vulnerability’. He describes it this way “I captured a moment in time of experiencing and emoting within a Black metaphysical space. The concert made the expression feel whole as I allowed my hands to be possessed by the music, almost as if I could see the colors change with each note. This piece explores the vulnerability of Black expression through music and the ways we allow sound to move through us.” In support of the mission of HBCU-ARTS, ‘Vulnerability’ was purchased off the display and will head to its new home at the Andrew & Walter Young Family YMCA in Atlanta Georgia.
