On Jan. 16, our museum will open a powerful new exhibition “At the Vanguard: Making and Saving History at HBCUs” celebrating the legacy of historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs). "At the Vanguard” spotlights the groundbreaking collections from five partner HBCU museums and archives, bringing lesser-known stories to the National Mall before embarking on a national tour.

The Biggers’ Picture: 7 Artists, 11 Days, 1 Vision was an opportunity to celebrate the recent work by to paint replicas of two iconic works by Dr. John T. Biggers, “Quilting Party” and “Jubilee,” on the outside of TSU buildings. Artists Mack Bishop, Alex Arzu, Bimbo Adenugba, Linda Hinojos, and Mathieu Jean Baptiste shared what it meant to them to participate in the project. A huge shoutout to Dr. Wardlaw’s Conservation Studies class for putting together the event, and thank you to for recognizing the artists and students!
