Just heard back from another Westlake student..went from a 1980 to a 2260!!!

She's still confused on how her score went up so much. Owell, results is the only thing that matters...Congrats!

Spoke with a mother this weekend. Top 25% son, with "mediocre" SAT/ACT scores (um, they were 70th%ile) that had plateaued. The son's counselor (Brazos County) told him that he has an extremely, low chance of improving his scores and thus succeeding since he had a minimal chance of getting accepted by a good college. The son was in tears.

Not all counselors are alike, but seriously...what's wrong with you!?!?!? What's your track record to give such advice??? Imagine you hearing, or your child hearing, this ridiculous "guidance"...how would you feel??

I can't help but remember hearing similar comments from the majority of assistant principals, counselors, and teachers 10+ years ago, Growing up in an Indian culture didn't help.

Over last two weeks, I learned about 8 of my students' ACT score improvements:

19 to a 23
20 to a 25
25 to a 29
24 to a 30
26 to a 31
30 to a 32
28 to a 33
31 to a 35

These were eight, self-proclaimed, "horrible" test takers that got past this stupid exam. Think about what you say when around other students...

Just helped my mentor's daughter go from a 31 to a 35 on the ACT! Yes I'm going INSANE right now.......Congratulations to our highest scoring, ACT student ever!!!!!

This man changed my life in so many ways and then gave me the privilege to work with his daughter. I am eternally grateful for the trust he put in me. I hope to be even 1% successful as Dr. Brent Iverson!
