April! lots and lots of recitals...

Lots happening this week. Isaac Foreman's DMA chamber recital at 5:30pm this Wednesday un Duncan and Seolyeong Jeong's Beethoven 4 this Friday at 7:30pm in Stude!

Rice alum Cristian Măcelaru to lead Shepherd School Symphony Orchestra in March 4 symphony concert A visit from internationally renowned guest conductor and Rice University Shepherd School alum Cristian Măcelaru coupled with a blend of traditional and new classical works are among the highlights planned for the school’s chamber and symphony orchestra performances March 3 and 4, respectively.

We've had a fabulous semester with beautiful performances throughout. Here's our celebratory dinner at Kata Robata with my class and family!

And we're off! It's a new year, school feels back to normal, I have an AMAZING class with four new students: DMA Isaac Foreman, DMA Jonathan Mak, freshman Kako Hayashi and freshman Ana Howland. Updates coming soon!

We had a fabulous last push of the semester. Brilliant recitals from Osip Nikiforov and Cameron Akioka, and a class party to finish off! (And one final bit of news - as of July I am assuming the position of Chair of the Keyboard department at Rice!)

Bravo to Seolyeong Jeong (DMA) on two big wins: The Shepherd School Piano Concerto competition, and the Piano Division of Young Texas Artists! Looking forward to hearing Seolyeong perform Beethoven Piano Concerto No. 4 at the Shepherd School of Music next year!

An important part of performance: speaking to the audience! Osip Nikiforov with Chopin's 1st Ballade and Ayane Nakajima with the mighty Liszt Sonata!
