Feeling Sketchy? ✏️🎨

Our WCS art teachers, Mrs. Keese and Mrs. Okwuonu, recently traded their classrooms for a seat on the other side, spending the day learning and creating alongside fellow art educators at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo School Art Workshop.

Mrs. Keese even got in on the action! She was selected to compete in a timed sketching challenge modeled after ’s Quick Draw, experiencing firsthand the same creative challenge our student artists take on.

We love seeing our teachers continue to grow in their craft and bring fresh inspiration back to their students!

Each week, our Lower School staff will recognize a student who embodies one of our WCS values. This week, we’re celebrating Worship.

Before they can build community, they have to learn what it means to be part of one.

In Lower School, our teachers are intentional about creating moments like these. Bringing our Wildcats together, inviting them into the conversation and helping them learn how to participate, contribute and make room for one another.

Little by little, they begin to understand that they’re not just part of the group, but how they show up helps shape it.

Long before leadership has a title, it looks a lot like this. Confidence growing. Community taking root. Young Wildcats beginning to find their voice.

A new school can come with a lot of new faces, so sometimes the best thing you can do is sit down, share a meal and get to know each other.

Our New Family Dinner gave some of our newest Wildcats a chance to do just that. There was good food, plenty of laughs, a little friendly competition and time to start making connections beyond the school day.

We’re excited to have these families as part of WCS and can’t wait to see what this year holds for them.

There’s something special about having our Wildcats together in one place. 💙💛

At our first All-School Chapel of the year, our 4th graders stepped up to lead worship, Scripture, and prayer with less than a week to prepare! We also introduced some new faces to the WCS family and took time to celebrate academic achievements and Middle & High School Cheer accomplishments from the summer.

Four years feels like forever when you’re a freshman. But ask a senior, and they’ll tell you just how quickly those years can go.

During Freshman Symposium, the Class of 2030 spent time thinking about the years ahead, hearing from seniors who could offer perspective from their own high school experience, and beginning to imagine the stories they’ll have to tell one day.

Before they know it, this class will be the seniors in the room, passing along their own advice to a new group of freshmen.

For now, they’re at the beginning. But one thing is already true: they’re Wildcats, and they always will be. 💙💛🐾
