Come early to peruse the exhibit before the talk.

“Shared Ground explores the relationship between Earth and one another through the medium of clay. Soil goes through a metamorphosis to become a ceramic work of art. It begins cold and loose in the depths of the earth. It emerges to be mixed with water and other minerals, becoming malleable and smooth, ready to be shaped and given a new purpose. It is then thrown in the fire to harden, making its surface so tense that it can explode from the presence of the smallest fracture. We are molded and tested in the same way throughout our lives as we entwine ourselves with others.”

Before the week ends, we want to say thank you again to Sarah German for making her way to Houston to host a wonderful two-day workshop. We had so much fun learning about architecturally inspired pottery and of course her colorful woven coil techniques! 🧡

If you missed out, our next Artist Workshop will be with Pat Johnson on November 7-8! More information is on our website.

Our next 7-Week Session begins the week of August 17, and enrollment is officially OPEN! 🎉

This session’s themed class is It’s Fall, Y’all 🍂 Join Lotus on Mondays at 11 AM or Allyn on Tuesdays at 11 AM as you create cozy, fall-inspired pottery while building your ceramic skills.

Whether you’re trying ceramics for the first time or looking to take your skills to the next level, this is the perfect time to get your hands in clay. Our seven-week classes offer a welcoming environment for beginners and experienced makers alike, with limited openings available in both morning and evening sessions.

When you sign up, you’ll also have access to over 100 custom studio-made glazes, commercial glazes, and underglazes. Your enrollment includes open studio hours, so you can come in and work on your projects outside of class at your own pace, as well as access to our full range of studio tools and equipment.

Every class is taught by practicing ceramic artists who are passionate about helping you grow through technical skill-building, creative exploration, and plenty of encouragement. We love our people just as much as we love clay, and we’d love to welcome you into the Third Coast Clay community.

See you in the studio! 🤎
