Today, we pause to honor the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and the countless heroes who answered the call of duty with courage and selflessness. The National Eagle Scout Association remembers their sacrifice and the resilience of our nation. As Scouts, we are called to live by the Scout Oath and Law—upholding our duty to God and country with integrity, courage, and compassion. Today, we pause to reflect, to honor, and to never forget. We are forever grateful.

If any of your Packs are looking for another opportunity for BALOO training before their fall campouts, George Strake just opened their registration to the rest of the council. Training will be held 9/6-9/7 in Spring.

Dreaming of the 2026 National Jamboree but concerned about the cost? The National Scholarship Program is here to help!

The National Scholarship Program for the 2026 National Jamboree is designed specifically for Scouts who dream of joining this life-changing experience but may need financial support to make it happen.

🔍 What You Need to Know:
• Scholarships cover a portion of the national registration fee.
• Additional council fees (travel, gear, etc.) are not included.
• Full scholarships are rare; most awards cover less than half the national fee.
• Staff members are not eligible, but those aged 16–29 receive a reduced staff fee.

🗓️ Deadlines:
• Round 1: Apply by July 31, 2025 (notifications in early Fall)
• Round 2: Apply by November 30, 2025 (notifications by mid-Winter)

Train Like an Astronaut | Tuesday, June 24, 2025

To celebrate the partnership formed between the Sam Houston Area Council and NASA, we are pleased to announce an exceptional opportunity for Scouts (ages 13 and above) and leaders to discover what it's like to train and prepare for a mission at NASA.

Scouts, as part of their mission, will be performing several analog missions at the NASA William's Pool. Complete underwater tests where astronauts first trained in this historic pool!

Control underwater SeaRay Robotics to discover the difficulty of controlling CSA’s CanadaArm in Space. Test Like an Astronaut by completing several portions of the Functional Task Test, a real test that Astronauts must conduct before and after space travel.

Space is limited to the first 14 scouts or adult leaders who register for the reduced special pricing of $250.00.

• A chance to send Postcards to Space via a Blue Origin Rocket
