As we end the year, our Guthrie Team posed for one last photo in front of the building that has housed us for the past 54 years. All of us anxiously await our move into the new building in July.

Our FFA banquet is going on now. Led by our students and guided by our advisors, this annual event celebrates accomplishments, installs officers, awards scholarships, and bids farewell to our seniors. Today is an exciting day for the Electrician Technician cohort of 2026 as they head to NRG Arena for the Houston City College graduation. Each student will receive their Level 1 certificate. Thanks to instructors Jorge Mata and Martin Iniguez for guiding them to reach their goal.

Monday evening at the SBISD Board Meeting, four Architectural Design Practicum students were recognized for their success in the Region 4 CTE Architecture Contest. Sophia Perez, Andrew Davidow, Trace Murphree, and Liam Walsh were introduced by teacher Fuad Loutfi and commended for their tenacity and getting the most out of their years at Guthrie. Congratulations to all!

We are thrilled to share that our Ag Sales team just won 1st in Texas at the CDE competition at SHSU today. Congratulations Kinsley Binder, Lucy Esparza, Elizabeth Frew, and Jordyn Howell, & FFA advisor Mike McManners for guiding them. They will quality for nationals this fall.

20 Guthrie students and 5 teachers from Culinary, Cosmetology, Filmmaking, and Health Science are on their way to the SkillsUSA State Convention and competitions in Corpus Christi. We are so proud of these students and wish them a trip filled with success and happy memories.

Culinary was also busy today at competitions for SkillsUSA and LeNotre's Chopped High School Competition in addition to HLSR. Thanks to our chefs for getting the students ready and making these events happen. Congratulations to our students for putting in the time and effort.

Once again, we appreciate at the HLSR Barbeque Cookoff for allowing our Culinary students to come, learn, and assist them as they prepare for their guests this week. It is a fun, positive experience for our students as they work alongside BBQ pros.

Congratulations Fuad Loutfi, our 2026 Guthrie Teacher of the Year. Fuad joined our Architectural Design team nearly 10 years ago and continues to refine and develop this stellar program for future architects. Thank you, Fuad!
