Insightful review of The Menil Collection's Janet Sobel exhibition, written by Painting MFA alum Lauren Moya Ford. Congrats Lauren!
Why Did Art History Marginalize Janet Sobel?
A new show at the Menil Collection in Houston raises important questions about the ways that we remember and historicize artists.

SoA CAMP (School of Art Community Mentorship Program) is entering its third year. I’m very excited for our students and a little envious that they get to work with these amazing artists!

Announcing this year’s Artist-Mentors for SoA CAMP!! (Clockwise) JooYoung Choi, Betirri Bengston, Adriana Corral, Julie DeVries, and Preston Gaines!!!
SoA CAMP (School of Art Community Artist Mentorship Program) is an opportunity for Undergraduate art students to work closely as an assistant to one of these artists during the Spring semester (with an option to extend over the Summer). Students receive an honorarium and internship credit.
CAMP was developed in response to student feedback regarding diversity among School of Art faculty. CAMP is an opportunity for students to assist an artist of color, learning and observing from a practicing professional in our field.
Interested??? Attend an info session on Wednesday, November 30 at 7PM on Zoom. The following night, December 1 at 7PM, the Artists-Mentors will be doing brief, introductory artists talks so you can get to know them and their projects (also on Zoom). Links in bio.
