You’d be surprised how many dancers have lost this foundational movement pattern from something as simple as a “cultural norm”.
➡️ One example is sitting for long hours in school (which starts to be trained as early as preschool to prepare kids for kindergarten).

(It’s tempting to focus on the extremities first…but remember, they’re directly affected by your alignment;)

By the looks of it, this baby has mad planking skills. That must mean he is practicing planks in order to get good at planking, right? There are two principles that jump out from this baby’s example.

1. The MOTIVATION has nothing to do with nailing the position. This baby simply wants to be able to move from A to B and interact with the environment (toys, people, etc…)
2. He didn’t practice planks to master the plank! It is not copying a finished position or outcome for the sake of that position or outcome, but rather an expression of development through a PROCESS, of the elements that came before (and those elements look nothing like the plank;)

-Have the long game in mind
-Focus on process
-Develop your foundation
-The RESULTS will follow : )
