We thank Ms.Dolly for the 20 years she has devoted to LMS. Her smile and warmth will be missed! We wish her all the best with her family in Dallas.
It's impressive how her evolution as an artist has earned her high praise. She is recognized as "one of pop's finest songwriters, country music's foremost pragmatist, and more in touch with her inner self than most adults." It seems Taylor Swift had her star shining bright from the very start!

What does observation mean?
“It’s like being a scientist for the day. Imagine you’ve never met your child before, be curious, and write everything you see in objective language.”
Being objective means removing any information we know, preconceptions, and judgments, allowing us to see our child with fresh eyes.
An objective statement would be, “Tom repeated the puzzle ten times.” We see exactly how often he repeated it instead of a subjective statement like “Tom likes puzzles,” which may or may not be accurate.
Writing it down is ideal. It helps us stay focused and on task, and we can look back to our observation notes over time. We will have a beautiful record of our child’s development, what they were saying, and how their independence evolved.
3 reasons to do observation
1. We often see much more detail when we observe, so we come to know our child better.
2. We can see when there is a change in their development, such as holding the pencil differently or having success with something they have previously struggled with.
We remember to see who they are, not who we want them to be.
3. We see them with new eyes as they develop every day, every hour, and every minute. Instead of coming up with what we want to teach them, they show us what they want to learn, and then we can see how we can support that.
Choosing Montessori means choosing a world of possibilities for your child. Our approach fosters independence, empathy, and a lifelong love of learning. 🌱
Montessori students become confident, critical thinkers who thrive in collaboration. They're equipped with the skills to shape their future! 🌎

Unpopular Opinion Alert 🤔
Montessori doesn't prepare kids for traditional schooling: Some people believe the emphasis on self-directed learning in Montessori schools can leave children unprepared for the more structured environment of traditional schools. They might argue these kids struggle to adapt to teacher-centered instruction and standardized testing.

Feeling is believing!
Today's Lakewood Montessori Word of the Day is tactile. ️
Tactile describes anything related to the sense of touch. Exploring different textures through touch is a crucial part of a Montessori education. It helps children learn about the world around them and develop their sensory awareness.

Today's Lakewood Montessori Word of the Day is 'grasp'!
Grasping objects helps young children develop their fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination. This skill is important for many Montessori activities, like using tongs or transferring objects with a spoon.
