The 2026 Urban Rancher Educational Lecture Series is off to a great start! The first session of the six-week series began with the topic over “Beekeeping 101.” Participants had the opportunity to gain a better understanding about bees, hive management and more. Then, all participants had the chance to get some hands on experience by doing a honey tasting activity.

We would like to thank our speaker - Monica Siwika - (Bee Specialist) Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, for doing an outstanding job!

Also, we would like to thank Kristin Lambrecht for coming to represent Texas Department of Agriculture.

Lastly, we would like to thank the Master Gardener hospitality group - Chevvy Tang, Keeng and Terri for helping with the dinner.

"Crafted by hand. Powered by caffeine."

The final two classes of the 2026 Brewed & Branded Educational Series has come to a close.

July 17th - Participants had the opportunity to learn the importance of leather working related to agriculture and craftsmanship. Participants had the opportunity to make belts, coasters and key chains.

A huge thank you to Mr. Tom Feldman and his co worker Amber for leading this session. Tandy Leather.

July 24th - Participants had the opportunity to learn the importance of coffee related to agriculture and culture. Participants had the opportunity to learn about the research side of coffee production, and the business model of coffee production. Participants did some hands on learning about cupping techniques and had a chance to tour the company to see coffee production in action.

A huge thank you to Eric Brenner - Program Coordinator, Latin America and Caribbean; Assistant Director, Center for Coffee Research and Education. Borlaug Institute for International Agriculture Texas A&M University - College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.

"Concrete jungle, charcoal spirit."

The first Brewed and Branded three part educational series has started, and it has been a great kick off session about BBQ Basics. Participants had the opportunity to learn some hands-on cutting demonstrations, importance of beef and had the chance to learn some grilling techniques with the opportunity to grill their own steak.

A big thank you to Dr. Drew Cassens for leading this educational session.

🚨We are super excited to announce that the registration is currently open for the 2026 Urban Rancher Educational Lecture Series in Harris County. 🚨

The Urban Rancher Lecture Series will be a series of six seminars, and field days designed to provide information and resources related to agriculture, natural resources, wildlife, and land stewardship for new or current landowners in or surrounding Harris County. Participants in the program will hear from experts in various fields about best management practices they can implement on their own property to get the most value and enjoyment for you and your family.

🔥 Drum roll, please…. Introducing- Brewed & Branded Educational Series. 🔥 Does this not sound like a great event already! If you like BBQ, Leather, and Coffee, this program is for YOU!

Who: Open to the first 25 people!

What:
Work and craft: Coffee fuels labor; leatherworking embodies craftmanship; BBQ requires patience and technique.
Community: Coffee shops, leather markets , and BBQ joints all serve as gathering spaces.
Tradition + evolution: Each has deep roots but continues to evolve with new generations.

Put simply, coffee keeps Texans moving; leatherworking reflects where they came from, and barbecue shows how they come together.

When:
This will be a three-week series:
Friday, July 10th - BBQ Basics / Grilling / Smoking Techniques / Cutting Demo
Friday, July 17th - Leather Working - Making coasters/ key chains
Friday, July 24th - Seed to Cup / Importance of coffee from around the world related to agriculture / coffee roasting techniques / tasting demo

ALL sessions will be held from 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM

$50.00 Individual
