I would love to take this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Tausha Hintz and I am founder of Islands Dyslexia Tutoring,LLC and an Associate with the Orton- Gillingham Academy. I am thrilled to share MY perspectives of parenting, teaching, and some of my own personal crazy! I do not expect your journey to look like mine, as you know, every single child is different but many weaknesses in learning and development especially following the past few years from COVID are just starting to surface.
I hope this page will help you find some ways to help gain some insight into what struggles your child may be going through as I attempt to share some of “what I wish I would have known when…”
This page is not intended to diagnose anyone or anything. I encourage you to talk with your medical doctor and /or educational school specialists if you have concerns.

Thank you to everyone who attended Whimsy’s First Birthday and Islands Dyslexia Tutoring Open House for Summer lessons! 🤍 This was an amazing opportunity for families to stop by and check out the office and Marina. We were also able to discuss the policies, procedures, and safety protocol for upcoming lessons . I would love to thank all of the local businesses for supporting this event, IDT, and myself. If you see anything you’re interested in, they are all tagged above☝🏼☝🏼❤️

If you haven’t yet, meet Woad🥰She regularly attend lessons with me and loves interacting with the students. Oftentimes, Woad acts as a sort of multi-sensory surface for practicing certain cognitive skills (She makes the PERFECT reading buddy). When she does not attend work with me, she happily catches up on her naps in the sunshine on the front porch. She and I are currently in the process of achieving her Therapy certification, in hopes we can reach even more individuals and put a smile on their face from schools, libraries, and medical facilities.❤️

“Until you have a kid with a language disability or any special need, you have no idea of the depth of your strength, tenacity and resourcefulness.” Hello my name is Tausha Hintz, and the quote above briskly explains how I have gotten to this point, as a mother and now a tutor. I am a credentialed associate with Orton-Gillingham and owner of Islands Dyslexia Tutoring, LLC. I utilize the Orton Gillingham approach to help kids that have difficulty processing our language as well as a variety of and other reading and writing challenges to overcome learning obstacles and make their own path. My goal is to help other parents and families avoid the distress, tears and frustration that my family experienced surviving homework, “nightly reading” and routine tasks around the house. I am thrilled to share a window into my world of teaching, learning, and everyday experiences. I hope that within my page you may find content that puts a smile on your face or helps you think about things with a new perspective. I love getting to know each of my clients personalities, interests, and motivations. This approach has allowed me to create a solid rapport with each child and family, creating memorable experiences that will leave a lifelong impression.

One year ago I was on the search for some office space. After checking out the Savannah area, but wanting to be near the islands, I was not having much luck finding what I needed. Wanting space that allowed for the flexibility of my own schedule, my dog to come along and something with outdoor space as an option. I thought a little outside the box and had the idea that it would be fun to teach on a boat. So, after looking far and wide ( I looked at one boat.) I am a “gotta go with my gut kind of gir,”I bought a boat. The first and only boat I looked at. GASP!!! I am going to share her story and try to recall as a many of the funny experiences and details I can from the last year which was FULL of adventures.
No, I do not regret it!!
