Healthy Living Matters is a Houston/Harris County Childhood Obesity Prevention Collaborative. Our mi

n September of 2011, the Houston Endowment awarded a grant to The Harris County Healthcare Alliance to fund a local private-public partnership called the Houston/Harris County Childhood Obesity Prevention Collaborative. The Collaborative (now called Healthy Living Matters) consists of a multi-sector group of local leaders, engaged in a two-year planning initiative to curb childhood obesity in Houston/Harris County by using policy action to enact system and environmental change.

Join the Partnership for a Healthy Texas at Live Smart Texas's 2nd Annual World Obesity Day Summit on March 4th! The virtual event will highlight the impact of obesity and how we can address it's many root causes. Ted Kyle of ConscienHealth will deliver a keynote on efforts to reduce the harm of obesity and explain why so little progress has been seen. After updates from the Live Smart Texas Steering Committee, the Partnership will host a panel discussion on how to keep obesity policy relevant and the impact of COVID-19. Finally, Deanna Hoelscher and the Michael and Susan Dell Center for Healthy Living will present on their recent research.
