Established by the Texas Legislature in 1969, McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston aims for excellence in education, research, and patient care.
Since its inception, more than 5,000 physicians have earned their medical degree here. McGovern Medical School also provides residency and fellow training as well as continuing education programs for practicing physicians. High school and undergraduate students recently concluded the BRAINS Summer Research Program hosted by the BRAINS Research Laboratory in the Department of Neurology. In the 10-week program, participants are paired with an experienced scientific mentor and are assigned to a research project, where they complete considerable active research within the group. At the end of the program, each student presents their findings to the BRAINS Laboratory Research Team.
