Congratulations to Gena Brown, this year’s Jane Stewart Teacher of the Year Award recipient!

Gena creates a classroom where students feel safe, supported, challenged, and most importantly, excited to learn. Colleagues shared that she goes above and beyond to meet students where they are. It is common for her to design lessons around students’ personal interests to keep them engaged and motivated.

Known for her creativity, patience, Gena has strong communication with families and the ability to balance accountability with kindness. She creates meaningful and individualized learning experiences for her students every day. One nomination even described her classroom as a “must-stop on tours” because it so clearly reflects the incredible work happening at Westview.

Most importantly, Gena helps students believe in themselves. We are so grateful for the compassion, dedication, and heart she brings to her students and families each day.

“When someone believes in your child the way Westview does, you want to give back forever.” - Leslie Mogil, former Westview parent and co-chair of the Capital Campaign.

Today, your gift goes twice as far.

Dr. Bevan Koch, Westview’s Head of School and her husband, Glenn, are matching all campaign gifts up to $100,000 as we work to complete the Writing Our Next Chapter campaign.

Together, we can build a campus where every student with autism feels understood, supported, and truly at home.

For students with autism, the right environment changes everything.

Westview launched the $10 million “Writing Our Next Chapter” campaign to create Houston’s only comprehensive Pre-K through 12th grade campus dedicated solely to students with autism.

Over the past year, that vision has come to life across campus, from a new high school to a reimagined, centrally located library, along with added greenspaces, covered walkways, expanded therapy and clinic spaces, and enhanced safety features like perimeter fencing.

Today, more than 90% of the goal has been raised, and we are in the final stretch.

Thanks to the generosity of Westview Head of School Dr. Bevan Koch and her husband Glenn, every gift will be matched dollar for dollar up to $100,000.

Construction and renovations will be completed this June, just in time for the 2026-27 school year.

Help us bring this vision fully to life for current and future Wildcats.

Something exciting has been happening at The Westview School.

Over the past year, Westview’s campus has continued to evolve in ways that directly support our students, teachers, and future generations of Westview Wildcats.

From Westview’s expansion to a new high school to new learning spaces to reimagined gathering areas, every improvement reflects our commitment to individualized education and the students who call Westview home.

This is more than construction.

It’s an investment in possibility.

Welcome to the next chapter.
