The Criminal Justice program in the College of Public Service has had an incredible spring semester filled with impactful partnerships and real-world learning experiences.
From supporting human trafficking survivors alongside Office of Constable Alan Rosen, Harris County Constable Precinct 1 to engaging with the Houston region United States Secret Service on their pursuits in combating human trafficking operations, our students gained critical insight into the fight against exploitation.
Students also had the opportunity to observe criminal court proceedings thanks to Harris County Courts, and volunteered with Harris County Sheriff's Office—getting a firsthand look at the daily operations of the Harris County Joint Processing Center.
Proud of our students for stepping beyond the classroom and into the field, building knowledge, awareness, and a commitment to public service.

This past Saturday was one to be a proud gator.
My science methods students, Be A Teacher Club officers, and DAIR to Teach scholars showed up and showed out at the Earth Day @ Discovery Green event as part of a service-learning project. This marks our third year with Urban Education students participating—and we came strong.
Nearly 60 UE student volunteers dedicated their time and energy to support sustainability efforts and connect with the Houston community.
From promoting Zero Waste initiatives to representing UHD, the College of Public Service, and the Urban Education program, our students embodied service, leadership, and environmental responsibility every step of the way.
This is what future educators look like.
