Good morning IDEA Spears Families!
Beginning Wednesday, we are resetting our dismissal process to create a safer and more sustainable system for all scholars and families. Please review the attached dismissal times and dismissal map carefully.
A few important expectations:
• Safety will come before speed. Dismissal may move slower as we reset our systems and ensure everyone is following the correct procedures.
• Walkers: All walkers will be dismissed through the designated Walker Gate near Laurel Drive, as shown on the attached map. This is our designated walker exit because it provides sidewalk access. We are aware that some families are marking scholars as walkers and parking in the neighborhood or at the nearby gas station to avoid the car line. If you are deciding to do this understand that we are not liable for this choice. Scholars designated as walkers will exit through the Walker Gate regardless of where families park. Students will not use the front entrance to walk under no circumstance's due no sidewalks and a-lot of ongoing traffic.
• Car Riders: Please remain in your vehicle at all times. Getting out of your vehicle or walking onto campus does not speed up dismissal and creates additional safety concerns.
• Car Tags: Car tags or your assigned tag number must be ready and visible during dismissal. Tomorrow, we will send car tags home with all scholars who are present. Families who need a car tag may also come to the front office before Wednesday to receive one. Beginning Wednesday, families without a car tag or tag number will be directed to the end of the line while we verify dismissal information.
• Transportation Changes: All transportation changes must be communicated before 2:00 PM so we have enough time to communicate the change to your scholar and staff.
• Front Entrance: Please do not walk onto campus or come to the front door during dismissal. This creates safety hazards with scholars, buses, vehicles, and families moving throughout campus.
We need everyone’s cooperation for this system to work. Safety will always come before speed. As our families, scholars, and staff become consistent with these expectations, dismissal will become safer and more efficient.
